Scientific Coordinator EU Health Information Systems (M/V/X)

Functie

Connecting health, science and society, Sciensano has more than 900 employees dedicated to human and animal health every day. As our name suggests, science and health are at the heart of our existence. Sciensano's strength lies in its holistic and multidisciplinary approach to health. Our focus is on the close and inseparable relationship between human and animal health, and their environment (the "One health" concept). Therefore, we combine multiple perspectives in our research to uniquely contribute to everyone's health. For this, Sciensano can build on more than 100 years of scientific expertise of the former Center for Research in Veterinary Medicine and Agrochemistry (CODA) and the former Scientific Institute of Public Health (WIV). For more information on our projects and activities: https://www.sciensano.be.

You will strengthen the team of the EU Health Information System unit of the Health Information Service (Scientific Directorate of Epidemiology and Public Health). The Health Information Service generates, valorises and enhances health information in Belgium and Europe.

You will follow up on activities and initiatives on European level and ensure active alignment with developments on national level.
  • You will conduct an exploration of business models in other EU countries for Health Data Access Bodies including a landscape analysis and put forward best practices and recommendations on how the digital business capabilities can be designed and finetuned for the national Health Data Agency.
  • You will look for funding opportunities and take a lead in the drafting of project proposals to win European projects. You are able to quickly identify potential connections and synergies of funding opportunities with upcoming and running health initiatives in the unit.
  • You have regular contacts with partner institutions, the European Commission and other international and national partners and actors.
  • You contribute to communication about the projects and programmes, and our services and to relevant stakeholders, supported by our communications officer.
